Penultimate Town Tidy before Judging Day on Wednesday July 14th. Good to see new faces, including Melksham News reporter Ben. Big thank you to everyone who turned out today, litter was collected and weeding round the town centre carried out. Next Town Tidy is Sunday 4th July meeting Melksham Market Place 1:00-3:00pm.
Another good turnout for the Town Tidy which is run by Melksham Bloomers. Starting from Bath Road carpark various areas in town were litter picked - great job everyone. It was also good to meet Tash the new MTC Park Ranger.
The Town Tidy after lockdown return was based in 2 locations today - Bath Road Carpark and The Woody at Queensway. There was an excellent turn out over the 2 locations with a total of 32 adults plus children, but working in pairs or family groups. As usual a lot of litter was collected, this included bottles, cans, nitrate canisters, balloons, sweet wrappers, crisp packets and discarded masks. Paul from Super Whippy Ice-cream Van very kindly gave all the volunteers a free ice-cream - thank you very much Paul, a very noble thought and very much appreciated. A massive thank you to all the volunteers who help today, a great job done by all and a special thank you to all the children. Photographs Linda De Santiz. Why can't people take there bottles home with them? Smashing them and throwing onto the river bank in Conigre Mead Nature Reserve is totally unacceptable.

Julie litter picks every day, she does a great job - but the litter situation is really bad everywhere with the "trash zombies"...
As usual brilliant Town Tidy carried out by Bloomers and many other volunteers today. A lot of rubbish was collected, but especially along the river path and river bank parallel to Sainsbury's, where Linda and Chris bagged - bottles, cans, plastic bottles, clothes, shoes, nitrate cannisters, crisp packets, sweet wrappers, supermarket alcohol security tags and other assorted debris - totally appalling. Earlier in day Adrienne litter picked in KGV and as usual the majority was around the skateboard park. Think we need the effects of littering on the environment and wildlife as part of school curriculum. Adults also need schooling on this! Massive thanks to everybody involved today, also Pat Aves, Lynda Bloomfield, Jeff Mills..
Good turn out for this week's Bloomer run Town Tidy, which had been rescheduled from last Sunday due to the atrocious weather. The sun shone and as usual a lot of litter and various odd bits and pieces were collected by the volunteers. Partying had been going on by the Splash Pad & Prince of Wales Garden - more discarded balloons & empty nitrous containers. Sainsburys need to make sure they pick up all the discarded bits of plastic cable ties when changing banners. Just a shame a small minority of people seem to think nothing of dropping or throwing litter wherever they are - cans, bottles, cigarette packets, takeaway containers, masks and rubber gloves etc. All harmful to the environment..
