Following the closure of Wiltshire Time Credits, Melksham Town Council have launched their own scheme just for Melksham. The lovely volunteers who have been tidying up our town every month will continue to be rewarded for their time, with the new Melksham Community Voucher. The next three Tidy Town Days will be the ideal opportunity for this, and Melksham Assembly Hall has a great line up of films to spend them on in January. Click here for more details. We just had our last meeting of 2017. Full of ideas and excitement (and some fabulous Christmas biscuits kindly provided by Pat!) we set the plans for 2017 in motion. With the Market Place developments starting in Jnauary, we are due to have a fabulous new Town Centre adorned with hanging baskets and lovely new benches. While plans have been discussed for years, there is an actual road closure order in place, and work will begin in January. There was some disappointment that the proposed irrigation scheme won't be going ahead, but we are determined to get some irrigation on the roundabout at least, as there is a water source and no complex paving work to get in the way. There was aso the exciting idea of having a fluttering flow of festive flags flying throughout the town in summer. We plan to ask businesses and group sto make a flag each, and we can have them all down the High Street during July, celebrating the many events and groups that Melksham is rich in, as well as making the town look great during judging week.
