Prior to this evenings Annual Town Meeting at the Town Hall, Mayor Cllr Adrienne Westbrook presented the Civic Awards, originally to have been presented at the Mayor's Reception in March, which was cancelled due to the snow. The evening started off with the brilliant Melksham Community Macapello Choir (they were to sing at the Mayor's Reception). SWIB Melksham chair Kathy Iles and volunteer Bruce Petty collected the certificate for 'Enhancing Melksham 2017' on behalf of the group.

Weekly progress update on the riverside path restoration project, being carried out by Lackham College foundation students, which is co-ordinated with Lackham by our Project Manager Carl Gill.
Melksham Bloomers thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode of Britain in Bloom on BBC2, the countrywide competition run by the RHS. After 4 separate days of filming in scorching heat, Electric Ray TV put together an awesome program, which was presented by Chris Bavin. A massive thanks to all those dedicated volunteers who were involved and put in masses of effort to make this happen.
Time now to concentrate on this year, new volunteers wishing to join this group are very welcome. We are holding a Town Tidy Day with a difference next month as we continue our war on plastic in the town.
Come and join us on Sunday 13th May, from 1pm until 3pm at the Town Hall. Everyone is invited to join us as we help to clear the town of plastic litter, which we will recycle. This weekend coincides with a nationwide campaign, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, called 'The Great Plastic Pick Up'. http://www.greatplasticpickup.org/home/2684 We will also be promoting our membership to the Refill campaign, which allows the public to use the tap at the Town Hall to fill up their reusable drinking containers with water, rather than purchase plastic bottles. If you are coming along on the day, please bring a reusable drinking container to fill up at the Town Hall. We want this day to be as plastic free as possible! There was a flag-making workshop today, but as yet have not seen any photographs. However, Kathy and Matt were working hard at home on their flag, cutting and sewing poppies - looking good...
Beautiful day for walk after work and see how the Lackham students progressed on Tuesday with work on the riverside path. Coming along nicely, but a lot of work still to do to restore the path and it's going to need quite a few tonnes of gravel!
Counting down the days until Melksham's half hour of fame & glory! Join members of the bloom team for live viewing in Melksham Conservative Club on Wednesday 25th April at 6:15pm.
Field trip today! Good to see what what other communites are up to. Thanks to Pat Goodship for showing me round this very excellent village community project. Love the archway. A credit to all involved with this project.
After criticism by Wiltshire Charity 'Wiltshire Sight' earlier in the year regarding potential hazards with lack of colour contrast between the new seating and paving, Melksham Town Council and Sight discussed improvement ideas. Today Jim Wheel fixed Town logo's to the base of the circular bench to add contrast, last week new planters were placed by the two benches. Great job done.
Updated information we originally posted that South West in Bloom Melksham was to be part of a new TV series called 'Blooming Marvellous'. This program has been renamed 'Britain in Bloom'. The series has also been brought forward a week and now starts on April 16th on BBC, the Melksham program is now Wednesday 25th April. The series follows communities taking part in the RHS nationwide gardening competition and is presented by Chris Bavin.
